In the world of houseplants, there are some that stand out not only for their resilience, but for the innate, vibrant beauty of their leaves. We are talking about Calathea, a tropical plant known for its unique and colourful patterns. If you are drawn to nature and exotic beauty, keep reading to learn more about Calathea, its characteristics, and how to care for it.

General characteristics of Calathea

Native to the tropical rainforests of South America, Calathea is known as a shade plant. Its natural habitat beneath the forest canopy has given it the ability to thrive in low-light conditions. Its leaves are not only striking, but also have a special feature: they move according to the daylight, opening during the day and closing at night. This movement has earned it the nickname "prayer plant".
