Grow your garden

Cultiva is our 2023 slogan, and with it we launch our garden campaign, which runs through February and March. This year, we want to focus on your happiness, your safety, your health and your present. Grow your garden aims to encourage the people who visit our florists and Garden Centre to get closer to nature, understand it, enjoy it without harming it, and make the most of all the benefits it offers us.

Nature not only inspires us, it also improves our mental and emotional wellbeing, reduces anxiety and helps us face life's challenges. We have all felt guilty at some point for not living in the present. Misuse of social media, devices, work and, in general, our pace of life are some of the culprits.

Why not cultivate a new habit with us? Creating and caring for a garden has many positive effects on people

Spend time on your mental health

When you started working on your garden and came to buy seeds and soil from Eiviss Garden, you were probably not aware that it could have an impact on your mindfulness, relaxation and good mental health. But we bet you felt peace and empowerment from the very beginning.

Being outdoors is another form of therapy that seems to be overlooked in the modern world, presumably because it is "too simple".

However, spending time in your garden, with your plants or allotment, is the perfect setting for relaxation and contemplation. You can read more in our post about the benefits of plants for mental health.

Leave stress behind

What could be more relaxing than spending a few hours at dusk with the sun at your back, breathing in the fresh air and watching your crops flourish?

Gardening is considered such a relaxing and meditative activity that it is promoted as therapy in many hospices and recovery centres. Focusing your attention on the immediate tasks and details of gardening can reduce negative thoughts and feelings and can make you feel better in the moment.

The act of planting, growing and maintaining a crop is very rewarding and a good way to boost self-esteem through a personal sense of achievement.

Eat healthily

Fresh fruit and vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet. These are packed with essential nutrients such as antioxidants and vitamins.

Children, in particular, are the biggest beneficiaries, although many may not be great fans of vegetables. Teaching them from an early age the importance of eating home-grown or Km 0 produce is an excellent way to help them appreciate these foods from the outset.

By the way, stocking up on fresh home-grown produce means having more food for weeks, even months, without spending money in supermarkets. You have no idea how much money you can save by growing your own food!

Connect with the purest nature

Planting something that takes you back to your childhood, involving textures and scents that awaken your senses, welcoming insects or other forms of wildlife, even taking notes on the changes in your kitchen garden during the seasonal shifts makes you connect with nature and become more aware of its importance.

We hope that "grow your kitchen garden" helps you see gardening from a more mindful perspective. Eiviss Garden is here to help you feel good about yourself and your surroundings. We want to make our tools for happiness your own and we hope you share your experiences with us. We look forward to seeing you in our flower shops and Garden Centre.
