Our experts say
The Plumbago (Plumbago spp.) is a much-loved plant for its abundant, long-lasting flowering, especially for its distinctive clusters of pale blue flowers that brighten the garden for months. Depending on how it is trained and pruned, it can grow as an open shrub or as a light climber, ideal for covering walls, trellises and pergolas naturally. Its growth is fast in warm weather and it creates a fresh green mass, perfect for adding colour with ease.
It is a particularly recommended plant for sunny spaces and mild climates, where it flowers continuously. It adapts well to large pots as well as planting in the ground, and works very well alongside dark greens, silvery foliage or white blooms, as its blue stands out with elegance.
