How do you design a garden that reflects your personality? Every garden is a world of its own, which is why at Eiviss Garden we like to get to know the people behind each project before bringing it to life.
When it comes to designing the garden of your dreams, our landscapers explain that there are many things to take into account. Gardens are constantly evolving, and none can look perfect from the outset. Many people feel their home is a true reflection of themselves, but at Eiviss Garden we believe it is in the garden where personality and our relationship with the environment truly flourish.
How to get started?
Designing a garden that reflects your personality can seem overwhelming at first, and sometimes it is hard to know where to begin. In most cases, it is the lines of the house and its interiors that set the tone for the outdoor aesthetic. The aim is to combine or source materials that complement or contrast with the colour and texture of the interiors.
Before embarking on a new project, our team takes time to explore and assess the site, as it is important to consider a garden within its wider setting. Introducing something that goes against the essence of the place will always feel forced and artificial.

Oak sun loungers complement the pergola roof and give the terrace a unique character. It has been positioned to make the most of the relaxation area beside the pool. Every corner of the garden should offer us a benefit, whether for relaxation, dining or entertainment. By partially enclosing the terrace, we can enjoy the garden on days of intense sun or rain. The wooden roof of this pergola not only makes the design more aesthetically pleasing, but also sits in harmony with the planting.
In this particular garden, different plant styles are explored, from native species to the more exotic ones, to find the ones that best suit the terrain and, of course, define the owner's style. When choosing the raw materials, think about the overall character you want to reflect in your garden. Muted neutral colours suggest a calm and peaceful atmosphere, while vibrant, bright colours create a cheerful and energetic look.
What use do you want to give your garden?
As I mentioned earlier, the garden should be seen as an extension of the home, a space for dining, relaxing and, above all, reconnecting with nature. It is very important that it fits well with each person's lifestyle, and every area should be functionally defined according to your priorities and those of your family. The more practical and useful the areas you create in your garden are, the more likely you are to want to spend time in it. However, if you have a lifestyle that does not allow you to spend much time outdoors, we recommend focusing on creating idyllic landscaped spaces visible from the windows you look out of most often.
What does your garden say about you?
Many of us enjoy adding our own unique and personal touches. If the structural features and background materials of a garden are unified, the smaller details will inject that charm and character that define each person. Water features, sculptures and pots are some of the most obvious design elements. But it is important not to forget other components such as fences and gates.
But, above all, it is our plant choices that reveal our personality in a garden. Some designs are colourful and striking, while others are light and more understated; there are also structured ones, perfectly balanced and with a freshly cut lawn. In some gardens, you may find plants from remote places, native to their owners' countries of origin, or rare specimens passed down from one generation to another.

Keep experimenting
If you are still wondering how to design a garden that reflects your personality, we would say that, just like our personalities, gardens are made up of many layers, shaped by time and events. It is important that you experiment with those layers, which will result in a garden with more character and one that will continue to evolve over time.
It is essential to mention that, unlike indoor spaces, even the best gardens are never finished and often wear over time. No need to remember that they require time and care, but the experience is very rewarding, and their possibilities are endless.
